Villa La Quercia
Your perfect Italian retreat
- Villa
- 13 People
- 6 Bedrooms
- 5 Bathrooms
- Minimum Stay: 3 Nights (July & August: 7 nights)
This beautiful property, consisting of a main villa and a gate house, is ideally situated down a quiet country lane approx 2 miles from the Tuscany border on the western side of Lago Trasimeno. Immersed in rolling farmland the property offers complete privacy and solitude yet is only minutes from a local village which has all necessary amenities. The property for rent consists of two houses (which are being rented together as one entity) - traditional farmhouse and guest cottage.
The traditional farmhouse was restored by local craftsmen in 2005. Using original materials and being true to the centuries old character of this country dwelling they have created a bright and spacious vacation home that is both comfortable and welcoming while incorporating all the modern conveniences which the discerning vacationer could desire.
The farmhouse contains 4 bedrooms (2 double, 1 single and 1 family room - with double and single bed) and 3 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms contain private balconies with views of the pool and onwards towards Lago Trasimeno. There is a downstairs den with, small library and large 50' TV. The large kitchen/dining/living area is open plan in design and leads - via two fabulous arched doorways - onto a beautiful, south facing, vine covered patio area which is perfect for al fresco dining.
Approx 20 meters away, and visible from the patio, is the pool area. Special care was taken by the owners when designing the pool. It is 6m x 13m in size and is salt water based. There is a shallow end with roman steps and a deep end with a diving board. The pool is lined with brilliant Bizzasa glass tiles which shimmer in the sun. There is ample space surrounding the pool for sunbathing.
The guest cottage (80 meters from the farmhouse) was newly constructed in 2006 using materials from old out buildings and has a traditional design. It has 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), 2 bathrooms and open plan kitchen/living area with an arched doorway leading to a vaulted ceiling portico - ideal for summer dining. Wireless broadband is available throughout the private fenced and gated grounds of 2 acres which surround the property.
Location is excellent for relaxing by the pool in a tranquil setting or for touring the Tuscany & Umbria regions and visiting many of the beautiful towns and villages close by - Arezzo, Assisi, Cortona, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Pienza and Siena - all being within a 1 hr drive. Day trips to Florence and Rome are very easy via 1.5 hr train ride - local train station is 20 mins from the property.

Magnificent place for rest!
Clean, large, airy farmhouse. Smaller villa not so, but still looked good. Villa further from the absolutely wonderful pool, but with slightly better views. Thoroughly recommend a stay in the farmhouse for a peaceful refreshing and most enjoyable time. Worth the trip around the world!

Wonderful family holiday in a beautiful home
Our family of 10 adults and 4 children spent 2 wonderful weeks together at this beautiful villa in August. The villa was perfect for our large group and the setting is stunning, in amongst the olive trees and vineyards, looking out over the rolling countryside and yet close to all amenities needed. The villa and gardens - The villas, pool and gardens are all immaculately kept. The pizza oven was a major hit and well used! There's loads of room for the children to play, inside and out, shade under trees around the pool and they loved the trampoline. The vine covered pergola makes a wonderful al fresco area to while away the hours over delicious local food and wine! The area - It's such a stunning area of Italy and the villa is so well situated. We did several day trips to local towns, wineries and eateries, recommended by Ken and Danica in their very helpful guide folder, and it was always so lovely to come home to the peace and privacy of the villa. Our hosts - Ken and Danica [by email] and Sandra [locally] were so helpful and responded immediately if we needed anything, thank you so much to both. They have thought of so many details within and outside the villa to make their guest's stay both comfortable and fun. We loved our stay and would thoroughly recommend Villa La Quercia as a perfect home away from home. Thank you so much Ken and Danica!

Countryside perfection
Absolutely lovely villa situated perfectly in the Italian countryside with spaciousness all around. We didn’t think the pictures did it justice! Loved being nestled in among the olive trees and vineyards nearby! And, especially liked the centrality of the location in visiting the lake and other nearby villages. Ken and what seems to be a team of local people they know, are most responsive if you need them. Thank you for understanding a traveler’s needs!

Something for everyone
We recently stayed at this beautiful villa and there truly is something for everyone in the area. The house is set up as a real home from home with every convenience you could wish for. Our day trips included a number of local markets; Isola Maggiore on Lake Trasimeno where we discovered an Irish lace making museum and a tradition of lace-making which is still alive on the island today; Città della Pieve where we saw some beautiful works of art by a famous renaissance painter, Pietro Vannucci, known as Il Perugino (The Perugian) who was born in the city. My teenage daughter spent a number of hours on a horse-riding trip through vineyards and olive groves which will always be a special memory for her. We would relax in the evening with a glass of some delicious local wine under the stars watching the fireflies play and wake up next morning to the sound of the cuckoo in the distant forest. There's so much to experience locally but more importantly this house is a perfect getaway where you can relax and switch off, unwind and re-energise your heart, mind and body.

Heavenly holiday
We had a wonderful holiday staying in this amazing house. From the moment we arrived, the beauty and tranquility of the house and surrounding countryside was just fantastic. The information folder provided is a gold mine of information to help you enjoy your holiday even more. We followed the recommendations for a few restaurants and all were fabulous. The nearest town, castellione di lago on Lake trasimeno was beautiful and we also visited montepulciano and Cortona, gorgeous hill-top towns. We didn't do too many days trips as we spent lots of time chilling out at the house and enjoying the beautiful swimming pool. Just to note, we traveled with our 7 month old baby and our bedroom was set up with a very comfortable cot for her, there was a high chair also and a lovely big tree just beyond the swimming pool provided perfect shade for us on the patio so she could still enjoy sitting at the swimming pool with everyone between her swims.

Tranquil Paradise
We stayed here for 1 week in June and can't wait to go back! The villa was even more impressive than the description. Perfect pool with stunning views to the lake. Very private and tranquil setting yet close to all necessary amenities. Ken and Dancia were extremely good hosts and their recommendations for restaurants etc were superb. I would highly recommend this property.

A Gem - Just Perfect!
This spacious, very well maintained & equipped villa proved an instant hit with our family - 2 fortysomethings & 3 teenagers. Idyllic views and total peace are combined with easy access to fabulous restaurant options and some of Tuscany's most beautiful towns. The glorious pool & good wifi ensure contentment for all ages! Attention to detail and an emphasis on comfort (the beds!)made us feel genuinely welcome; as did the comprehensive folder of really useful local information. We'll be back!

Spectacular Restored Villa with Amazing Pool and Views
Words cannot do justice to this spectacular property nestled in an idyllic location in the Italian countryside. The views of the sunflower fields, the grapevines and nearby Castiglione del Lago are unmatched. Driving up to the property, you will be glad you are going to call this villa home for the next days! The main house and nearby “cottage” are both rustic, yet completely modernized. We were a party of 11 in Italy to celebrate our parents’ 70th birthdays with 5 kids (ages 4-14) and there was plenty of space to both be together and get away for a break if needed. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms are large and airy. The main kitchen is well equipped. (As is the cottage, but we all just cooked together in the big house.) There is plenty of room to lounge comfortably inside, but you will likely spend most of your time outside under the arbor or poolside! The lounge chairs are modern and comfortable with individual “shade coverings”, a wonderful touch! The kids loved the trampoline and we all enjoyed the gorgeous pool. The house is well situated for day trips (Assisi is a MUST!) and close enough to so many towns (Montepulciano and Orvieto were our other day trips) with time to be home for an afternoon of swimming, appetizers and cocktails poolside. Ken and Danica were wonderful hosts and so gracious to share tips, ideas and help, as needed. Consider yourself fortunate should you be able to enjoy the wonders of Umbria and Tuscany from this amazing home!
